Trevor Stanley holds a Bachelor of Commerce (B Com) and a Diploma of Education (Dip Ed) from the University of Queensland (UQ), a Master of Science (M Sc) from Griffith University, and a PhD from Queensland University of Technology (QUT). He is also a Fellow of CPA Australia (FCPA).
Trevor was a senior lecturer at QUT’s School of Accountancy before retiring. As a unit coordinator, he was responsible for both undergraduate and master’s level units, covering accounting discipline knowledge, computerized accounting systems, and professional practice/accountancy capstone units in the final year of the accounting degrees.
He has worked as a consultant for the Commonwealth Department of Finance, contributing to the introduction of accrual accounting. His dedication to education earned him an Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC) Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning, particularly for his work in workplace learning and for documenting and videoing the accounting systems of six large businesses.
Trevor has also been recognized with the Australian Professional Teachers’ Association (APTA) Award for Meritorious Contribution to the Profession and holds professional leadership and life membership with the Business Educators Association of Queensland (BEAQ).
In addition to his academic and professional achievements, he has authored 10 peer-reviewed journal articles on government accounting and accounting education and has written two accounting books, now in their fourth edition.
